Kathryn Person is a Military Officer in the US Army Reserves and creator of the Dual-use Ventures Incubator, a program at MIT that helps technology startups navigate non-dilutive federal funding opportunities to support their business strategy. While at MIT, her research on innovation ecosystems was cited in the Senate Armed Services Committee Report 117-130 - James M. Inhofe National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2023 and November 2019 Interim Report from the National Security Commission on Artificial Intelligence. Since 2016 she has served as an independent policy advisor and research manager to the Defense Laboratory Enterprise, National Security Innovation Network, NATO, MIT, Draper, and other federal and non-profit organizations. From 2003 - 2016 she served as a US Army officer with operational, program management, and technology development assignments, including tours with the office of the Assistant Secretary of the Army for Acquisitions, Logistics, and Technology (ASA(ALT)) - Forward, DEVCOM (previously RDECOM), and the 10th Mountain Division, where she received two Bronze Star Medals in Afghanistan. She received her MPA from the Harvard Kennedy School. She resides in Florida with her husband and son.
